I have spent the last 19 years in sales, marketing, customer service, and client retention, and the last 6+ years specifically in faith-based childcare development and retention. During that time, I obsessed over testing ideas and implementing the most effective strategies to help directors attract families, get them to tour, and keep staff engaged long-term.
The Missing Piece
One thing that faith-based centers had in common before we worked together was feeling like something was missing. They had a deep desire to grow enrollment and recruit quality staff, but they suffered from a lack of a clear starting point or systemized strategy.
Unsettling Trends We Noticed
Over recent years, we observed unsettling trends in some childcare environments — staff bringing adult/political topics into classrooms, negative staff rapport built on complaining, and warmth disappearing during parent drop-offs. Even worse, some faith-based centers were forced to sell to non-faith-based corporate companies simply because they lacked a growth strategy.
